Prayer Breakfast “Family Business” Release Date and New Songs!
Mark your calendars! You’re going to want to remember where you were and what you were doing on August 21, 2012. That’s the day that PRAYER BREAKFAST‘s fabled and elusive debut full-length album FAMILY BUSINESS will see the light of day!
Recording began on this album on Halloween night, 2008….TWO THOUSAND EIGHT! It’s been slowly pecked away at ever since, but starting a record on Halloween night does not bode well for future success. Since the recording process began many people associated with Prayer Breakfast, and even members of the band, have been mysteriously maimed, fallen on hard times of bad luck, and even disappeared completely.
So, in an effort to settle the score, we decided to release the completed album on cassette tapes in August. It’s still hot as hell – to appease the devils, but it’s almost fall – which the humans appreciate!
In another effort to shake the Family Business hex, we’re releasing TWO NEW SONGS from the album each week until the album is out!!!! Starting now, you can visit our Bandcamp page twice a week until the release date to hear a new song from the album. Two new songs…every week. How’s that for good Karma?
You can also preorder the cassette starting now, and we’ll ship them as soon as possible, which will likely be well before the release date.

Built up around a found tape loop consisting of a pitched-down coin spinning on a table top, this heavy droning experiment in distorted synthesizers and manipulated vocal improvisations is delivered in one 46 minute piece for a long and slow digestion. No microphones were used in the making of this record.
Each CD-R comes in a beautiful piece of hand-made packaging created specially for housing and presenting this experiment and it’s end result.

Welcome to the final year of existence! 2012. Wow. All of this build up, all of this progress and innovation, all of human history culminates in one enormous worldwide fireball at the stroke of midnight on 12/21/12. Who knew….
So, I guess we’re just kinda hanging around killing time at this point, all of us. My recommendation would be this: If you HAVE to sit around and anticipate the apocalypse, why not do it listening to the new Bro. Stephen record? After all, it’s very good, and it kind of makes a perfect soundtrack for waiting for the end of time. I mean, at that moment when the Earth’s crust turns inside out I’m sure we’ll all be playing some SUNN O)))) or Zao or something, but until then, Bro. Stephen is ready to sooth us and calm us down while we wait. I mean, we’ve got 11 months to sit idly by and wring our hands. No reason to waste that time worrying and fretting. As for me and my house, we will let Bro. Stephen give us a neck rub until the moon turns to blood and the locusts reign down from on high.
Ok, sorry…enough of that….here’s some real information.

(The official release date is Nov 8, but this music CANNOT be contained) These songs were recorded in the middle of a former chicken barn in the middle of autumn in the middle of nowhere in Indiana. he A-side is a well orchestrated, toe-tapping taste of what’s to come from Bro. Stephen while the B-side features two exclusive solo tracks accompanied only by the cracking of the wood stove and the rain falling hard against the barn’s tin roof. Thing 2 : this friday, METAVARI will be performing at Fortissimo, a new concert series sponsored by the Ft. Wayne Philharmonic, WITH the Philharmonic!! it’s really going to be great…someone, please tape it. Clem Snide will also be there.
